A Method and System For Tracking Wheelchair

The present invention provides a method and system for tracking wheelchairs by using RFID devices. Passive RF tags are paired and coupled to the wheelchair and the patient’s admission ID tag. The RF tags are tracked by RF readers at predetermined entrances and exits of a hospital. Alarm means is activated if unauthorized removal of wheelchair is detected, without the presence of paired patient tag. The wheelchair along with wheelchair tag should also return and pass the reader after a predetermined time interval. The passive tags do not need a battery for operation. A GPS transceiver can be added to track the movement of wheelchair.
