A Murine Model For Human Enterovirus 71 Encephalomyelitis

A murine adapted human enterovirus 71 strain and method of producing the same are described herein. The adapted strain, which is m13903-5 strain, is derived from its parent strain which is 13903 strain. The m13903-5 strain has the capability to infect one-day-old to two-week-old mice, wherein the infected mice possess similar pathological features as in infected human. The serial passage method is employed to produce the adapted strain.
