The present invention relates to a three-dimensional zinc oxide nanostructure characterized by: a hexagonal three-dimensional zinc oxide nano pillar stacked of a plurality of hexagonal two-dimensional zinc oxide nano plates; and a hexagonal pyramid formed at the top of said nano pillar. Further, a method and a system of fabricating said three-dimensional zinc oxide nanostructure also disclosed herein.
