An Early Warning System On Erosion Hazards And A Method For Providing Warning Signals To The Public
TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
The present invention serves as an early warning system on erosion hazards for a specific area and is a method for providing warning signals to the public whenever there are signs and probable occurrence of such incidence. The system of the present invention includes a database of the structure plans, satellite imageries, topographical and rainfall information on areas being regarded as environmentally sensitive where land developments for various activities and infrastructure projects have been carried out and considered as high erosion risks areas. Furthermore, the system utilizes solar-powered rain sensors with a SIM-card based GPRS transmitter to send real-time rainfall information to a receiving server which processes and compares the information to the threshold values stored in the database and which triggers a warning signal when the values exceed the threshold limits.
