The present invention pertains to a novel serine protease extracted from the tiger milk mushroom L. rhinocerotis. The protease of the invention is provides in addition to its proteolytic activity an cytotoxic effect. The novel protease is therefore provided as a new medicine to tackle proliferative diseases such as cancer.
