Method of in vitro Propagation of Rice From Vegetative Organs
TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
The present invention provides a method of in vitro propagation of rice, which comprises the step of a) producing aseptic seedlings through explant cultures on Murashige and Skoog media, without plant hormone, and of b) producing in vitro plantlets from the seedlings or parts thereof through explant cultures on Murashige and Skoog media, optionally with plant hormones. This method is particularly useful for aromatic rice Oryza sativa L. Cv. MRQ 74, which is an important food source for the Asian countries. The method of the present invention allows the production of a large amount of uniform plants under controlled and effective conditions.
